-when you aren’t 100%
You really have to be alert, there is no point painting when you are ill, hungry or just tired. Last night’s work needed some repair today. There is one effect that is troublesome now though- adding a thin glaze over fairly dry paint causes a repellant resist effect, the liquid seems to be repelled by the dry layer. Adding a body layer seems to solve it but that can be a step backwards.
Remember how annoyed I was in the 1980s when it was suggested to me that I should" use drugs for inspiration in my art". I was livid- how crass is that?![]()
Below is stage 2 in a painting of my feet. It has linseed layers even though the whole thing is is tonal. There is a lil feeling in teh gut that tells me "this is wrong". Perhaps those tonal thoughts are really excised now, unlike college days. .

painting without my glasses on is also quite fun. I like the feet and hate them at the same time, feet gross me out a bit.Wish I could use oil paints as well as you I’ve attempted and it wasn’t so bad but not anything special. I have the pictures on my space.
