about half an inch?

7°C, cloud, S. wind & some rain.

That tendonitis was unnoticeable yesterday. Why was that, the new bike with new pedals or was it the old shoes? The seat is lower on that bike so I will try lowering the seat on the other bikes half an inch or so. It seems possible, though I lowered the seat in the spring, that it’s still too high. Could that be the why this tendinitis  has taken so long to heal. It got worse while riding the commuting bike only.  Perhaps the summer bike is set up better, but I’ll see in the early spring. these things usually result form multiple causes.

I just don’t know.

six below

-2°C & dropping. Snow soon.

Snow flurries, too cold to cycle and it’s likely to stay this way for two more weeks. I’m physically frustrated- my legs are fizzy and I can’t settle. At least I have a turbo-trainer this year. There is a gym in work too.

Found it! how thrilling it is when something lost comes back to you. It’s been over six months & many hours in all, looking. Such an open, honest pleasure from a well meaning inanimate object: though no sentient being, I am grateful to you. Do you need a wash?

Ripped & pulled

14°C,Wet warm & windy

camped in the lee of woods, winds gusting above 30mph

Poor attempt at a few day’s hiking this week. All I have is some very wet kit and a torn ligament. The ligament ripped in a motorway service station not somewhere heroic like a mountain side. If I’d been on a mountain, I would not have been wearing my smooth-soled driving shoes. If I’d been on a mountain, I would have needed rescuing, that state it’s in.
Then what? I was pulled over by the police for suspected no-insurance. She phoned my insurance company and they confirmed that I’m covered. Good outcome; but how many times will I get pulled before the Police database is updated?

immunology

18°C, cloudy & warmer

That lurking cold have come out of the shadows. Nose blocking, with sore chest and mouth. The curious bit, though is that Achilles tendon. Why, when I have a cold do they hurt? Do these viruses go global in their attack on tissue types or is it just certain types or membrane? Any immunologists out there who could offer an answer?

Symphony No.4

Am I right to be annoyed that I couldn’t get the insert booklet out of this CD case without tearing it?

Return to the slow country

26°C, hot & sunny

It’s not ironic that I have a cold on the hottest weekend of the summer so far. It’s merely a coincidence. there are always advantages to this kind of thing- maybe my Achilles tendon can recover fully with a few days off the bike. Dosed up with cold remedy I have been able to dig out another slab, plant some wild-flowers (don’t worry, I bought them, they’re legit). Comfrey and a few others.
I thought I had got all of those slabs, but there are a few left. I will route them all out in the end.
Those recycled compost bags are so cheap that it’s no problem to use them until my own compost heap is ready.

This is the Pyracanthus, the slabs were to stop Rosie digging, but she’s not interested in digging any more.So they’re gone.

Here is my newest Artemesian.

Tendinitis

13°C, showers soon

Mild Achilles-tendinitis has been niggling for the past few weeks. It’s very mild but stubbornly persistent, no treatment yet, but I may use ibuprofen before I ride today.

Rode: only did 35 miles and feel rather tired. Something’s not right. The rain didn’t come, had to hose the garden instead.

Staring emptiness

11°C, grey but dry.

Woke puzzled: why feel all this staring emptiness?
Later it became apparent that I merely have a cold. Back to the slow kind of country then for me.
Two astounding plants
..
Angelica (above) & Artemesia Ludovicia, below

They’re shooting up like something from jack-in-the-beanstalk, flashing out massive paddle like leaves as they go. They make me smile these two.
What will they do next (don’t tell me, I await the surprise)?
