One more day

14°C,

that painting is hideous! The Sprite one I mean. Last night I added a much thicker layer of frotte to give the face some body, also started to blur the edges. Note to oneself- get radical with it- temple-forehead-nose is grossly underdeveloped. I hate paintings at this stage; usually doing a quick A4 picture diminishes this uncomfortable feeling.

Fireworks are bothering Bessie. She hid behind my legs today on our walk when one went off (at quite a distance). She sat trembling. That dog really hates fireworks.

I need a holiday.

Dankness

17°, no weather, just air that is wet, but barely rains, it just makes the road wet where it rubs on the ground like a slightly damp dishcloth- a bit less smelly though..

Everybody seems to be ill.

Oh yes, and there’s a dinosaur eating a building behind my house.

Mammatus

28°C, ++thunder

What a day- thunder lightning and lots of lovely rain. We may have seen mammatus clouds ( hope I spelt that properly). Here’s a site about them: Hastings
It’s so hot & close now that I have the fan on in here.

On a different tack: BBC on painted portaiture.

Afterburn

Bit like yesterday

Painting: it’s a re-work of the pencil sharpener, and is looking good so far.
Afterburn is getting easier- still times when changes are made to parameters and it results in a totally different effect. I’m trying to get a good contrial from an aircraft mesh, sometimes it looks OK, then after what seems like a subtle change- something completely different result renders. Clearly some parameters are more sensitive than others. I guess in a studio, there will be specialists who work this plugin.

Foxy-poop

Cycle 37¾ miles.

Don’t get a puppy! Just because it’s a poodle doesn’t mean none of that mucky-dog behaviour. They do disgusting stuff- like yesterday I had to wash off Fox-poop from all round her neck, it was in the buckle of her collar and in one ear! She looked quite resentful with her lead tied to the garden gate when I got home.  Even more so when I plugged in the garden hose to blast it all off, I could feel the saliva building up in my mouth like it does when you are about chuck-up. It was her great idea to roll over in the stuff!
Fox-poop seems more smelly & obnoxious than dog-poop though she has never rolled in dog-poop.
A look of resignation descended over the poodle’s face when I shut her in the shower-cubicle next and reached in with one gloved hand holding dog-shampoo.
She’s all clean and smells of tea-tree now – so a happy ending to my little poopy-dog story

Hiroshima day-3

21°C, winds with showers

Just watched an outstanding documentary on BBC4. It was about the bombing of Hiroshima on teh 6th Aug. 1945. The way it was filmed, directed and edited was masterful. Stunning.

the sharpener picture just won’t lie! I finished it this morning the decision to start another similar one was looming. I may make a real effort for that one- base the picture on the drawing much more closely, get a good quality canvas, and put more gesso on this time. It ought to be a bit larger too. It’s going to be good tohave two majour picture on the go again concurrently.

Ready to go cycling now, no longer feeling mildly ill ( as I have since Monday)

What’s it all for

What are blogs for? (again)

In a conversation I was asked
It seems that most people use it socially. If you use messenger & contacts say "hi what have you been up to?", you tell them, then the next person comes on line & asks the same question. You could write in here the day’s story, you can save yourself the trouble of repeating yourself, AND they are more likely to ask a more interesting question to do with your entry. You know.. they might therefore ask – "how exactly did you get the dog off the roof & is he scared of you now?" So use your blog to fill people in.

Framed

More weather. Warmer than yesterday.

Only drawn up that new painting onto the canvas. Then got distracted when I noticed some wrapped picture frames in the corner bought ages ago. It looks very nice but the frame is glazed, that means it can’t face anything that will give a strong reflection- otherwise you can’t see the picture. Done two frmaes today, they do look a bit odd with dark pictures in them. Perhaps I should get some wood stain. There are about six more here that are worth putting up.

Blimey! -sixty page views today, but half are RSS feeds & I dunno how to track those; who is it I ask??

Anyway, at last I’m getting a new graphics tablet, could arrive tomorrow or soon. Not to mention some CDs to fill up the parcel a bit.

Derflinger

21°C; sun & wind.

Paying for yesterday now, sore legs, tiredness and needing of sleep. Willdo.

Yet it’s another goreous day in paradise. Bought new brushes, those Dalon D77s seem a bit fragile- unless there is something wrong with my husbandry.

28°C;;no wind,no clouds worth speaking of…

Something remarkable happened today. I opened msn messenger and it logged in successfully without needing to click the "Log in" button. Blimey!

HOT, now 31°C

It’s so hot now that everything is done is slow-motion.
Below is an old picture from when I first got Poser 5. It has an excellent hair module. Trouble is it takes forever to render even on reasonably fast machines, it is particulalry greedy with RAM.
