4°C, dense fog.

About 1/5th of drivers didn’t put their lights on in this dense fog. I saw 2 cyclists riding with their hands in their pockets. Another two wore all black and had no lights. Nutters!
The speedo was over-reading today. Tchoh!

7°C, calm and sunny

Kona Paddy Wagon, 10°C, dry (mostly) light S.

5°C, very strong N, dry and cold.

Had an unplanned layoff. That cold lasted 3 weeks. Then some days of bad weather to add to frustration. How I cursed it.
Anyway, I’m ventured out on the Arrow, I need gears in this wind. This building site has reduced the road to 1 lane for a good 300m, controlled by lights. I arrived on red and set off on the change to green. About 3/4 the way through, the opposing traffic came head on. The woman driving the Audi accused me of running a red light. I told her I went on green.
I was quite annoyed at this being neither ours faults. Quite why she thought it was ok to drive at oncoming traffic aside.
12°C, sunny dry

A week of heavy rain and then a cold. Though not quite back to normal, it was refreshing to get out.
15°C, sunny with light SW.

Broken up for a week’s holiday, but I have work’s keys. I’ve missed cycling over the last month. Every weekend, I worked away and only rode, maybe only twice a week. Though the distance wasn’t enormous, I was disproportionally exhausted for the last 10 miles.
15°C, brisk W, sunny and dry.

Uh-oh, how did that happen? There are plenty of clues. The wreck lies just beyond a sharp corner, the wipers are up and it rained last night.
Good ride, despite the strong wind on a fixed gear. Ideally, I’d ride the Racelite but the cassette I ordered last June still hasn’t arrived
15°C, mostly cloudy, mostly dry
3 days with 2 silver groups who were delightful. That was a fine way to finish the season.

We’re still suffering the effects of Covid Restriction rules on DofE. These two groups did a combined bronze Qualifying and Silver Practice last summer. I don’t think they camped back then either. The effect of reduced training meant that supervising these groups was, at times, like herding cats. Considering their lack of experience, they were very well motivated and thought carefully at those places where navigation was a proble. On the east side of the hills, paths were often disrupted by quarry works or signs were badly maintaned.
For a final trip of ther season, I had the satisfaction of bonding nicely with the kids. That, of course, is easier on Silver level because we get more days together.
We’re working with a lot of groups, 127 kids in all. They’re doing Bronze qualifying. Here is another place I’m familiar with. The weather should be good.
