8°C, light SW, very high spring tide.

Only a short ride (3rd day in a row) but I added a visit to the Green Machines at the end.

That was a good ride. I say that because I’ve had a winter of interruptions that have cost me fitness.
9°C, sunny with light NW.

Slow but steady ride since I’m still recovering from a heavy cold. Oh, well, the coffee was good
6°C, cold and dry.
A 1½ hours after work. This is a return ride after over a week of feeling poorly. I’ve really felt the cold but, unsurprisingly, it’s not noticeable after the ride.

As you can see, the speeds are quite low, partly because of restrictive warm clothing. Ironic that I overheated slightly. A week of no exercise does make the cold air more biting.
6°C, fresh breeze from NW. Dry.

I still like cycling at night. This is late twilight, about 6pm.
8°C, strong NW with a few showers. mostly sunny.

Round the back of Dalton are some decent climbs and sweeping descents towards Parbold. The Mustang is good on hills despite being heavy. The weight is not noticeable unless you ride with somebody else on a lighter machine.
That return leg was hard in sections exposed to strong wind. Though the thermometer said 9°, it felt much colder.
The cafe was heaving (and quite noisy). Nevertheless, the service was still excellent. Mmm, espresso!

Windswept flats, a decent route with enough variety for a winter ride. This outing follows a long walk yesterday to clear my legs.
8°C, sunny with N breeze.

Very slow but no setback. Sometimes, when you return from illness you can undo some of the recovery but coming back too soon. By taking a flat route at a slow pace, I have avoided that.

The annual mileage for 2018 is only 3,600 which is lower than last year by 1,000. 400+ was lost to illness, 500 lost to DofE work.
14°C, white cloud and a S breeze

While not entirely recovered, I managed to tap out 84km the feeling of emptiness is a result, I’d say, of an inadequate meal last night. It’s a particular feeling and I know my meal yesterday was low on carbs.
I rode the Mustang with MapMyRide+! Distance: 36.86km, time: 01:46:41, pace: 2:54min/km, speed: 20.73km/h.

A treat to witness such a fine sunset on the way home. Each half minute, the light would change. Fascinating.
