Usually a bike ride, but this year a swim. In total, it’s a mile (with 2 more laps in case of a miscount). This term, swimming has been a regular twice weekly at the pool near to work.

Cycling has added up to 4,231 miles.

Arrow, 3°C, brisk SSE, clear with little ice left

Each gets slightly colder.y Achilles is showing little sign of improvement but when warmer days come…
6-9°C brisk SW wind, clear and sunny.

It’s been a while since the last bike ride. Icy weather has stopped me venturing out. Some days were so bad, I daren’t even go for a run. That means the default is the gym or at home, the turbo. I get ratty at these times and feel a constant fizzy agitated feeling in my limbs.
Back to normal now.

I’ve left the turbo up so I can get on each day. I hate riding the turbo.

Drive to work.
Winter weather: in a winter forced layoff. Ice is the concern. Last night we had showers of rain which froze on contact with pavements. It’s too dangerous to run or cycle.

Mars emerging (at 4 o’clock).
-°3C, clear and still .
I missed the start of the occultation (blame cloud) which ran from 4.58 to 5.56am. however, the re-emergence was clear while on my morning run. Using the outdoor gym was a problem because the machines were so cold.
Warmer and warmer. 12 – 16°C, unnaturally Hugh temperatures.

I’ve been for early runs 3 times this week, and used the Green Machines each time. Setoff was around 06.30 in darkness for about 25 minutes . This is a good habit despite that nagging ankle injury from the GR20.

Woo, I’m running again. It was only short (1.6 miles) but my ankle was without pain, only residual stiffness. This is notable for me because I’ve been off running for over a month.

In the Botanical Gardens there are better Green Machines. Those are the same as the ones that used to be on the sea front. The location is nice too.
Morning walk + a tentative jog to test my Achilles. All good, and these green machines are much better than the smaller selection in Cossens. There’s not even any neo-nazi Whiterose propaganda stickers there.
